Our Story – Audio

“Everyone has a story, and Dave and I have ours.” – Lori Puente, Myeloma Caregiver

I recorded “Our Story” for those of you interested in hearing it. It is “the talk” I give when asked, to offer hope and courage. It’s about 10+ minutes. I hope the link works for you. Love, Lori

Wow, that’s very cool! It’s so nice to put a voice to the face behind the wonderful writing. Now it’s book time 😉

    Thank you for sharing Lori

Hugh! You hit the nail on the head! I often am told that people don’t know who has the MM – me or Dave. I love this accomplishment, because as you surmised, it is a joined at the hip sort of journey! Dave loves it now when we go to Little Rock and people will look at both of us and say, “So, Wait! Which one of you is sick?”

Your comment about me being a caregiver to all of you is extremely touching to me Hugh. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Wonderful idea to post your story here. When I read your writings I tend to forget your not the one with MM. But you have embraced the whole cause so totally. Your such a super caregiver, and in a way your a caregiver to all of us!

    Hugh

Thank you Karen. While I am acutely aware that the upheaval in our lives with MM is not unique, I was pleased to share my story, while alluding to the fact that we all have one and it is for each of us a profound one. So much to say, and yet, keeping it balanced and in a 10 minute time frame, is challenging. For the group that hopes to get me out to do this, I worked with their creative writers and I think they did an awesome job of capturing that “Lori” factor! Thank you for listening and giving me your feedback! I have enjoyed giving this talk the few times I’ve done it and managed to not fall apart too bad! 🙂 Each time, I’m reminded of just how insurmountable it all seemed at the time. While we are doing well now, it is good I think, for folks to know, it wasn’t like that for us when we were going through it. It was hard.

oh, my dear lori, i am crying right now, so moved by hearing your sweet voice, telling your’s and dave’s story in words that encompass so much emotion, compassion, determination, and hopefulness. i think of those to whom you’ve spoken to and imagine their pain and fear being assuaged in such a gentle, informative and encouraging way. i hope as you continue to speak and tell this story, that you are rewarded many times over by seeing the faces in your audience registering relief and thankfulness – and maybe a few tears like mine, at being so moved by your words. love, karen
