Microscopy Image by Dr. Carl June - T-Cells

“I’m healthy and still in remission. I know this may not be a permanent condition, but I decided to declare victory and assume that I had won.” – unnamed patient fighting leukemia for 15 years.

It seems it has been a bit of a banner couple of weeks in the research area of blood cancers. I’m very pleased. This great story is working it’s away around, as well it should. It sounds similar to the Natural Killer Cells in Arkansas and the efforts being made at MD Anderson in their vaccine therapy. I don’t care who gets there first as long as someone does. Anyway, have a read.

  1. WOW that sounds really, really good. I however cannot read anything on T cells without thinking about the Resident Evil films – mind you I’d quite happily be Alice! 😀

thanks, lori, for this post. very interesting, gives great hope to many different types of cancer patients. when the flu-like symptoms post t-cell transplant were described, it reminded me of what hugh experienced (though not over as long a period, nor as severe) of what we were told was the “engrafting phase” of his stem cells. and so amazing these reseachers were able to add special carriers to the t-cells, as well as signaling mechanisms – killer cells now upgraded to assassins! my dad had CLL -a miserable form of leukemia with little or no QOL for 2 whole years before his death, so i’m very pleased others may be spared .
